Kinesiology Tapes – also known as kinesio tape or kinesio band – are thin elastic strips, usually made of cotton/lycra (some variants use silk or synthetic fibers) and coated with hypoallergenic acrylic adhesive. Thanks to their elasticity, similar to human skin, these tapes conform to the body without restricting movement. They are applied directly on clean skin and remain in place for several days (typically 5–7), even in the shower or during intense physical activity. While worn, the tapes allow the skin to breathe and provide gentle support to weakened or painful areas, without causing irritation due to the high-quality adhesive and hypoallergenic properties.
Pain relief: Kinesiology tape gently “lifts” the skin, reducing pressure on nerves and underlying tissues. This helps alleviate back, knee, shoulder, or muscle pain caused by tension. Additionally, the tapes provide gentle muscular support without restricting mobility.
Reduced inflammation and swelling: By improving local blood flow and facilitating lymphatic drainage, kinesiology tapes help remove excess fluids and natural waste, reducing swelling, bruising, and edema. The “vacuum effect” created on the skin speeds up the healing of damaged tissues.
Support for the muscular and nervous systems: The tapes activate skin receptors, enhancing proprioceptive feedback and stimulating blood circulation. Tired tissues receive more oxygen and nutrients, helping prevent cramps and muscle spasms. Over time, they reduce excessive tension and improve overall function.
Kinesiology tapes are commonly used in sports and medical rehabilitation, with multiple applications:
Muscle and joint injuries: Sprains, strains, tendinitis, bursitis, and other bone or ligament traumas. The tape supports the affected area and aids recovery.
Postoperative recovery: After orthopedic surgery, they help reduce pain and edema, supporting a quicker return to activity.
Posture correction: Applied on the back, shoulders, or neck, they relieve postural pain and provide tactile feedback to maintain proper alignment.
Injury prevention: Athletes and active individuals use them before intense training to protect muscles and joints, improve mobility, and reduce physiological stress.
Lymphatic drainage: In cases of lymphatic edema or pronounced bruising, specially applied tape patterns speed up the removal of hematomas and retained fluids.
D3Tape (e.g., K6.0, X6.0): Made from elastic cotton blend with hypoallergenic acrylic adhesive, latex-free. Designed for enhanced muscular support and comfort, ideal for both sports performance and medical recovery. These tapes offer optimal elasticity and strong adhesion, making them great for general use.
Strapit Advance KTape: High-end kinesio tape made from waterproof synthetic material (viscose with spandex) and treated with a water-repellent agent. Strapit contains slightly more adhesive per square meter compared to traditional tapes, ensuring superior grip and exceptional resistance to water and washing. Ideal for aquatic sports or humid conditions where extra durability is required.
